# Slack

> Use Minoa from Slack by connecting your account to Slackbot

## Overview

Ask Slackbot about your deals without leaving Slack. Slackbot pulls your business cases, pipeline numbers, and win rates from **Minoa**, and it can start a new business case for you.

<Note>
  This runs on the same Minoa Slack app that sends [notifications](/pages/integrations/messaging/slack) into your channels. If your workspace already has Minoa connected, you are most of the way there.
</Note>

## What you can do

Message Slackbot in a direct message and ask things like:

| What you want | What to ask |
| - | - |
| See your deals | "Show me my open business cases" |
| Prep before a call | "Pull the Acme business case and its ROI" |
| Check the quarter | "How is my pipeline doing this quarter?" |
| Find what is working | "Which use cases win the most in enterprise?" |
| Start a business case | "Create a business case for Stripe, enterprise fintech" |

A few things people like doing with it:

* Grab the numbers for a business case moments before a customer huddle.
* Check which use cases have been winning before you build a new deal.
* Turn a conversation about a new prospect into a business case, then drop the link back to the channel.

## Getting started

There is nothing to build or configure in Slack. The Minoa Slack app already includes the Minoa MCP server, so Slackbot can use it as soon as the app is installed.

### Step 1: Install the Minoa app in Slack

A Minoa admin connects the app from **Settings > Integrations** in Minoa. The [Slack integration guide](/pages/integrations/messaging/slack) walks through it. During install, Slack lists the Minoa MCP server under **Actions Minoa can take**.

**Already connected?** Open the Slack integration settings on the same page and click **Re-authenticate**. Slackbot support needs a permission earlier installs did not ask for, and Slack only grants new permissions when the app is installed again.

<Info>
  Depending on your Slack workspace settings, you might need a Slack admin to approve the Minoa app before it can be installed.
</Info>

### Step 2: Choose who can use it (Enterprise Grid, optional)

By default everyone with access to the Minoa app can use it from Slackbot. On Enterprise Grid and Enterprise+ plans, Org Owners and Org Admins can narrow that down:

1. From the **Integrations** section of the admin dashboard, click **Installed apps**.
2. Select **Minoa**, then open the **Member Permissions** tab.
3. Below **MCP servers**, click **Edit** next to the Minoa server.
4. Choose who can use it: everyone, everyone except specific people or groups, only specific people or groups, or no one.
5. Click **Save**.

The same tab lets you set defaults for read-only versus write tools and turn individual tools on or off. Slack's guide, [Connect Slackbot to other apps with MCP](https://slack.com/help/articles/52414744085139-Connect-Slackbot-to-other-apps-with-MCP/), has the full steps.

### Step 3: Connect your account (each person, once)

1. Open a direct message with **Slackbot**.
2. Click **Connectors**.
3. Find **Minoa** and add it.
4. Slack sends you to Minoa to sign in. Review the access and click **Authorize**.

<Info>
  You sign in as yourself, so Slackbot inherits your Minoa role. It can read and change exactly what you can in the web app, and nothing else. Editing the value framework and its math stays admin only. See [Permissions and Governance](/pages/integrations/mcp#permissions-and-governance).
</Info>

### Step 4: Try it out

Message Slackbot and ask:

> "What business cases do I have open right now?"

The first time Slackbot uses a Minoa tool it asks you to **Allow once**, **Always allow**, or **Deny**. Pick **Always allow** for the ones you use often. If it comes back with your real deals, you are connected.

## Troubleshooting

**Minoa does not appear in Slackbot's connectors.** The Minoa Slack app is not installed in this workspace, or it was installed before Slackbot support was added. Ask a Minoa admin to go to **Settings > Integrations**, open the Slack settings, and click **Re-authenticate**. On Enterprise Grid, an Org Admin may also have restricted who can use the server (see Step 2).

**It stopped working after a while.** Your Minoa sign in expired. Ask Slackbot to use Minoa again and it prompts you to sign in, or open **Manage** next to Minoa in Slackbot's connectors and reconnect.

**You cannot add Minoa.** Slack lets each person have up to five MCP servers connected to Slackbot at a time. Remove one you no longer use and try again.
