The Value Analytics Agent is an AI agent built into the Insights page. You ask a question in plain English; the agent queries your team’s data, returns an answer, and — when it helps — renders a chart or a sortable table inline.
It’s designed for the kind of questions that don’t fit neatly into a fixed dashboard: ad-hoc analyses, follow-ups on something a tile surfaces, or quick one-off comparisons.
What you can ask it
The agent is most useful for questions that span your pipeline, business cases, and value framework:
- Pipeline & deal questions — “Show me deals with no customer engagement this week”, “What changed in our pipeline this month?”
- Win-rate and performance comparisons — “Which use cases have the highest win rate?”, “Compare time savings vs. revenue uplift close rates”
- Business case and value tracking — “How are Q1 business cases performing?”, “What’s the total value realized across all use cases?”
- Custom data exploration — anything that calls for a chart or table built from your team’s data
- Drill-downs from a tile — start a conversation from any tile to ask follow-ups grounded in that tile’s data
If a tile is interesting but doesn’t quite show what you want, click the AI icon on the tile and ask the agent to
slice or extend it. The agent receives the tile’s title, description, and a sample of its data, so follow-ups stay
in context.
How it works
- You ask a question in natural language.
- The agent looks at your team’s data — opportunities, business cases, use cases, accounts, and related records — using safe, scoped queries.
- It can run SQL, transform results, convert currencies, and look up specific use cases or business cases by ID when it needs more detail.
- When relevant, it renders a chart or table inline in the conversation. Supported chart types: bar, line, area, pie, stacked bar, and grouped bar. Tables are sortable.
- Conversations are multi-turn. Follow-ups keep the context, so you can refine (“only show closed-won deals”, “group by quarter instead”) without re-stating everything.
Three ways to start a conversation
Search bar
At the top of the Insights page. Type a question and press Enter to open a full-page conversation.
Press ⌘I (Mac) or Ctrl+I (Windows/Linux) anywhere on the Insights page to focus the search bar.
The bar rotates through example questions to suggest the kinds of things you can ask.
Floating panel
Click the AI button (bottom right of the Insights page) to open a side-by-side chat without leaving the dashboard. From the panel header you can:
- Start a new conversation
- Open conversation history to resume a past one
- Expand to full page for a larger reading area
- Dismiss the panel
From a tile
Click the AI icon on any tile, or pick Start conversation from the tile’s three-dot menu. The agent receives the tile’s definition and a sample of its data — ideal for “what’s driving this number?” or “drill into this segment” questions.
You can also start a conversation from the tile library: every tile card has a Start a conversation button.
Conversation history
Conversations are saved per user. Open the Conversation history sidebar from the floating panel header (or from the full-page conversation view) to resume any past conversation. You can also start a new one at any time.
Creating a custom tile from the agent
The agent isn’t only for one-off questions — it’s also how you create new tiles for your dashboards. Click Add Tile and then Create Custom Tile in the tile library. The agent opens with a prompt to describe the chart or table you want, builds it, and pins it to your current view.
See Views & Tiles → Creating a custom tile for the full flow.
Limits and expectations
- Complex multi-step questions can time out. If a request is taking too long, break it into smaller asks.
- Heavy load may briefly delay or reject requests. If that happens, try again in a few moments.
- The agent only sees your team’s data. It can’t pull in external sources you haven’t connected.
- Treat answers as a starting point. The agent is good at finding patterns and shaping data, but you should sanity-check numbers against the underlying tile or query before sharing them externally.
Permissions
Anyone with access to the Insights page can use the Value Analytics Agent. There’s no admin-only restriction on chatting with the agent — only on saving its output as a tile or modifying views (see Views & Tiles).
